OUR LEGACY IS WHAT WE WILL PASS ON

 

Many of our church family have recently lost loved ones. This is always hard for us all when we have someone we love pass away. Again, I have been thinking of the impact of our lives when we look at what we will leave behind.

Although we spend a lot of time involved in them – the trends are not what we will be passing down to our children and our grandchildren; rather, it is our Legacy! Most of the time when you think of passing on a legacy you consider the ways you can leave something to your descendants—wealth, a good name, jewelry, a house, or maybe a special antique. There is a much more valuable thing you can leave to your children than all of these named. It is the legacy of Your Faith.

Many people operate as if they are a chest of drawers with divided up lives. One drawer is for work; another drawer is for sports; another drawer for family; and another for God. Each day they open and shut these drawers as needed. But, does Christ simply want to be one of the drawers of our lives? No! He is not to be a drawer, but rather, the entire “chest of drawers.”

 

We CANNOT give away, or pass down to our children and our children’s children, what we do not first possess ourselves! Oh yes, Our National Debt is huge. They will get that; but they deserve so much more!

It was Dr. James Dobson who once accurately declared that morals, convictions, and the values of a child are more often “caught” than “taught.” You are teaching them right now the value of your faith by how much harmony there is between your lips and your life.

 

On this Busy Tuesday, why not pause and do a check up and make sure that our lips indeed match our lives. The value wrapped up in those two things, is a wealth that will continue to bless for generations to come. Remember, Our Legacy Is What We Will Pass On.
