DAILY Living Out Your Faith

Tuesday Passage: Romans 1:17 “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

In the middle of the first chapter of Romans, Paul inserts a quote from Habakkuk 2:4 that contrasts the self-righteous life and the truly saved life.  What makes this verse notable in Romans is the fact that it sits among scripture verses that are dealing with Paul’s personal ministry to Rome and how God is dealing with sin in the world.  Paul was under pressure by others to do what they wanted, and of course, the pressure to do what God wanted.  Tell me friends, does this sound at all familiar?

As Christians, we are challenged by the world to conform and are, at the same time, challenged by God’s will to transform. Many times, we want to throw up our hands and say “Oh, what’s the use?”  Unfortunately, and unnecessarily, many Christians today have become angry and frustrated because they struggle with all the questions that deal with their Christian walk.

Many often deal with questions like:

Do we stand against sin or gloss it over?

Do we love the sinner or simply judge the sin?

Do we think God doesn’t care when we are going through difficult times?

Do we get frustrated as Christians when we see Pre-Christians prospering while sinning?

Do we dare pray for God’s blessing when we fail to repent of our sin first?

Friends, remember that pre-Christians don’t worry about how they live, because they don’t even think about God approving or not approving of everything or anything they say or do.  However, the genuine Christian constantly takes inventory of our lives, as we should.  So what is the answer to our dilemma? I think, simply put, it is our determination to live from faith to faith, by daily living our faith with integrity.

In other words, don’t let Satan get you so tied up in knots that you neglect just living your faith as a process, by living it day by day, moment by moment, step by step, or, from faith to faith.  If you can accomplish this in your life, you will find that all those questions that plague you will simply fall into place.

Why not on this very busy Tuesday, get back to the process of just walking one step at a time, thereby honoring God and daily living out your faith.

Have a great Tuesday and rest of the week.

Pastor Darryl
